LOSURS

2008 Board of Directors Candidates

The following members are nominated for election to the LOSURS Board of Directors at the AGM on Sunday, May 24th, 2009:

Three of those elected will have two year terms, ending at the 2010 AGM. A fourth will have a partial term, ending at the 2009 AGM.

Alex Marz

Alex Marz has been a member of LOSURS since 2001, and has just completed a two-year term on the board of directors. For much of that term, Alex's job and life took him to Saskatoon, but he has now returned to Regina, and will have more time and energy to invest in LOSURS.

Over the past years, Alex has been involved in a number of LOSURS events; the Demo Day at the Book and Brier, as well as the last Expo at the Ramada, and various meetings. He's been using Linux since almost the day he joined LOSURS. Since being introduced to Linux and open source by his friend who encouraged him to join, he has prided himself on being a Linux and open source advocate.

Alex believes he has fresh ideas and the drive to help the LOSURS board of directors to ultimately achieve its current and future goals. It's his hope that you will let him prove that he continues to be good choice for board.

Bill Brown

The year was 1976. As Summer raged on in the American Northeast, Bill was born within the hastily-assembled log cabin his parents had built in preparation of his arrival. Years later, having had enough of the vagabond life, he crawled out from the mire and discovered the beauty of the Linux OS. Bill found himself drawn to Saskatchewan. (In all honesty, his wife suggested that he move here after he proposed marriage to her and he was okay with that.)

During the most recent nine years, Bill has been an appreciative, if not overly active, member of LOSURS. He's participated in the most recent ROSE, having contributed in a small way to its Web site and managed to mill around the booths, hoping to share with others the warm embrace and joy Linux.

He stands before you today, not only willing but excited to give back to the LOSURS as a whole and (within the bounds of legality and permission from his wife) by any means that shall be thrust upon him. He certainly isn't going to excel with his storytelling skills, I tell you what.
