As a non-for-profit corporation, LOSURS is required to hold at least one General Meeting every thirteen months. This is the Annual General Meeeting (AGM). Among other business, the AGM includes elections for half of the Board of Directors, and the presenting of the corporation's financial statements for the preceding fiscal year.
Our next AGM is scheduled for Sunday, October 26th, 2003 at 2:00pm in room ED616 at the University of Regina. (Parking meters on the University campus are not enforced on Sundays.)
The agenda for this year's AGM -- our first AGM! -- will include the following:
- LOSURS Bylaw No. 1 (A Bylaw to Regulate Generally the Business and Affairs of the Linux/Open Source Users of Regina Saskatchewan (LOSURS) Inc., approved by the Board of Directors on September 2nd, will be submitted to the membership to confirm, reject, or amend the Bylaw. - The Secretary of LOSURS Inc., Garett Harnish, shall present the Financial Statements for the Corporation for the fiscal year ending September 30th, 2003.
- An election will be held to select the Directors to serve the Corporation. Because this is our first AGM, all six Director positions are up for election, but three of the Directors elected will serve only one year in office, instead of the normal two-year term.
Anybody wishing to raise other business at the AGM should contact the Secretary, Garett Harnish, to have it added to the agenda. As yet, no additional business has been proposed. Our financial statements and incorporation documents (PDF, 4MB) will be distributed at the meeting, and are also available online.
Those members wishing to be nominated for election to the Board of Directors should contact the Secretary, Garett Harnish, to have their names added to the list. A list of members nominated for election (PDF, 4.7kB) is available online, and will be distributed at the AGM.
All members are encouraged to attend the AGM. For those of you not able to attend, minutes of the meeting will be distributed afterwards. Doughnuts will be present!
