Quick Links: Election Candidates, Financial Statements, Agenda Items
As a non-for-profit corporation, LOSURS is required to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM). Among other business, the AGM includes elections for half of the Board of Directors, and the presenting of the corporation's financial statements for the preceding fiscal year.
Our next AGM is scheduled for Sunday, December 11th, 2005 at 2:30pm in the board room at Access Communications (2250 Park Street).
Elections for the Board of Directors
LOSURS directors are elected for two-year terms, and the terms are staggered so that half of the board is up for re-election each year. This year, the following three directors' terms are expiring: Stacey Worrall, Scott Wunsch, and Mark Humphreys.
We have four candidates running for election to the board this year: Andrew Kerr, Alex Marz, Stacey Worrall and Scott Wunsch. More information on the candidates and their goals can be found on the Candidates List.
Financial Statements
The LOSURS Secretary, Mark Humphreys, has prepared the usual set of financial statements for the fiscal year ending September 30th, 2005. In addition to the copy available online, printed copies will be distributed at the AGM.
In keeping with the decision made at the last AGM, this year our financial statements have also been audited by an external auditor, Devon Hack. Devon also kindly audited our previous fiscal year's financial statements, to ensure that everything is in order (again, as decided at the 2004 AGM).
Other Agenda Items
The following old business from the previous AGM will be discussed, to bring every up to date on what happened with decisions made then:
- Changing the monthly meeting location from the Technology Learning Centre
- Holding introductory Linux courses
- Exploring the idea of Christmas charity fundraisers
- Holding events to promote the use of Linux and open source
All members are encouraged to attend the AGM. For those of you not able to attend, minutes of the meeting will be distributed afterwards. Doughnuts will likely make an appearance once again!
Information on the 2004 AGM is still available.
