As a non-for-profit corporation, LOSURS is required to hold at least one General Meeting every thirteen months. This is the Annual General Meeeting (AGM). Among other business, the AGM includes elections for half of the Board of Directors, and the presenting of the corporation's financial statements for the preceding fiscal year.
Our second AGM took place on Sunday, November 7th, 2004 at 2:30pm in the board room at Access Communications (2250 Park Street).
In the elections for the Board of Directors, Doug Machan was re-elected, and new board members Bernie Cohen and Scott Mazur were elected. Existing board members Scott Wunsch, Stacey Worrall, and Mark Humphreys still had another year remaining on their terms. In the end, the new LOSURS Board of Directors is as follows:
- Stacey Worrall (President)
- Bernie Cohen (Vice President)
- Mark Humphreys (Secretary)
- Scott Wunsch
- Doug Machan
- Scott Mazur
Doug Machan was again informally dubbed the social director, and Scott Mazur has taken on responsibility for organizing monthly meeting presentations.
Complete minutes of the meeting are available for members' perusal. Highlights include a motion to hold introductory Linux courses in community centres, and the formation of a working group to come up with effective means of outreach to our community.
